Submerge is an app for Mac that lets you add subtitles to a movie so that you can watch it on various devices, including your iPod, iPhone and AppleTV.

The application can add subtitles to practically any video format (MOV, AVI, MP4), and it supports the main subtitle file types (SubRip .SRT, SubViewer .SUB, SubStation Alpha .SSA/.ASS and MicroDVD).

In order to achieve maximum compression, Submerge uses the hardware encoder Elgato Turbo.264. Another option offered by Submerge is the possibility of forcing the aspect ratio (from 16:9 to 4:3) to get the best display.
